BRC is a professional services firm specializing in biomechanical analysis and accident reconstruction. Most of BRC’s experts are physicians who hold degrees or advanced degrees in engineering, combining the two disciplines to provide scientific, data-driven explanations of injuries to clients and juries, and have done so in thousands of cases throughout the nation.
Dr. James Benedict
Dr. James V. (Jim) Benedict, a physician with a mechanical engineering PhD, founded BRC in 1986. Our focus then was the retrospective analysis of automotive collisions, to determine how forces affected vehicle occupants, and how and to what extent they caused injuries.
BRC now applies those same precise standards to other incidents involving aircraft, spacecraft, watercraft, bicycles, pedestrians, motorcycles, ATVs, helmets, golf carts, elevators, escalators, forklifts, tractor-trailers, trains, amusement park rides, recreational, exercise, sports, and industrial equipment, power tools, slips, trips, and falls, and falling objects.

In our 40+ years, BRC has evaluated incidents throughout the US, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, and countries abroad. BRC provides impartial, trustworthy analyses in both non-litigation and litigation matters. Our consultants are regularly deposed and have provided testimony in over a multitude of jurisdictions. BRC has also conducted extensive research in the fields of accident reconstruction and biomechanics, with regular publication in peer-reviewed journals.
In that time, we have grown, adding full-time and part-time professionals, including medical and graduate-level engineering experts, nurse analysts, paralegals, visual communications specialists, a research librarian, and administrative support staff. Working behind the scenes, our support professionals play a critical role in every case. They organize and manage medical records and case files, collect and analyze physical evidence and data, conduct empirical testing, perform digital simulations, and develop illustrations, animations, and physical models. Their efforts help ensure that every project is supported by thorough research, meticulous organization, and rigorous analysis.
